Vainamoisen soitto

(Argh! DA does not approve Finnish letters ä and ö in the title!! Whyy??!!)

Anyway, a relief in University of Helsinki main building starring blacksmith Ilmarinen, wise man Väinämöinen (playing kantele) and (my personal favourite) reckless warrior Lemminkäinen. They are the three main heros in Finland's national epic Kalevala which I'm exra crazy about and madly in love with nowadays, especially now after our university course of Kalevala.

Did you know that Tolkien loved Kalevala, too?

In this relief (this is just a detail of it) Väinämöinen plays kantele so beautifully that all the creatures of the earth and all the gods and spirits come to listen to it and they cry because they are so touched about it.
